About Me

I'm a dedicated and driven individual with a calling to help others.  After graduating from East Tennessee State University with a Master's Degree in Community Agency Counseling, I found my purpose in helping individuals who struggle with addictions, mental and sexual health issues.  My gift is help others connect and understand themselves. Iron Mountain Counseling has come about as a result of that.

I am a Mom of seven amazing adult children!  My background includes growing up on a farm with seven sisters and brothers. I went into the United States Navy at the age of 18. In 1995 I retired due to medical purposes at the rank of Damage Control, Chief Petty Officer.

Upon graduation from ETSU, I worked for Frontier Health. I helped open and program Magnolia Ridge Residential and Detox, and then the Willow Ridge Residential Treatment Centers. I established my private practice, Iron Mountain Counseling, in 2010, and helped build other programs including:

  • SyMedica, now Birchwood Solutions, piloting and establishing online impaired nursing groups as part of the TnPAP program.

  • High Point Clinic helping establish the program as a nonprofit treatment center.

  • Overmountain Recovery establishing the Clinical Program.

It didn't take long to learn that there are so many facets to Recovery, therefore I have worked to be educated as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Mental Health Speciality Provider, Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), Master Addictions Certification, Distance Counseling Certification. I am presently working on my Sexual Health and Wellness Certification.

I am part of the NAADAC, AASECT and NBCC professional Boards.
